Mrs. Vargas

Welcome!  My name is Tiffany Vargas and I am so happy to be your child's teacher at Troy Elementary this year.  This is my third year at Troy, and I am beginning my 21st year of teaching (time flies!!!).  I grew up as an Army Brat and was lucky to be able to travel and experience many cool places every couple of years as a child and teen.  I went to college at Troy State University and graduated in 2003 (now Troy University).  I spent my first few years teaching in Mexico and moved back to Alabama in 2007.  From 2007 until 2021, I taught at Elba Elementary, mostly in upper elementary grades.  Now, I am happily living and working in Troy!

It may surprise some of my students to know that I'm not just a teacher!  I have been married to Rolando Vargas since 2005 and we have two amazing kids.  Amaia is starting eleventh grade this year and loves to play sports.  Ander will be in fifth grade and is super happy being a Troy Trojan!  He is all about Roblox and playing with friends!  He also loves to play with our two dogs, Binx and Rex.  Because Rolando is the Men's Tennis coach for Troy University, we spend lots of time supporting our Trojans!

Over the years I have learned so much about children and teaching- but I'm nowhere near finished growing as a teacher!  Something I have come to understand is that teaching and learning are both a science and an art!  Neither one is a "one size fits all" situation.   I'm committed to giving each of my students everything I can to make them successful learners.  We aren't here to be perfect; we are here to make mistakes- lots of them.  We are here to make ourselves better than we were yesterday, or even just five minutes ago.  In our classroom, we become better every day, and we do this by respectfully working together.  I'm so excited about this year and I hope you'll reach out to me throughout the year if you ever need anything!

  • Schoology is now up and running for my class.  Every week I will be adding our lessons daily.  I try to keep what we are doing in class very similar to what students will use in Schoology.  If your child is absent for any reason, they can log into Schoology and be able to keep up.  As the year progresses, I will be adding different types of activities and tools.  We will also use Schoology in class to help get the kiddos used to using it.
