What is a School Counselor?

Your school counselor is your adult friend. You are never in "trouble" when you have to see your school counselor. She is someone who will help you think about possible solutions to your problems so that you can choose which one is best to fit your situation. Your school counselor is a team-player who works with school faculty/staff members, parents, and community stakeholders in order to create a caring climate that will enhance your learning experiences. By providing education, prevention, early identification and intervention, your counselor can help you achieve academic success that will lead to you becoming a productive citizen in society. Your school counselor CARES very much about you and wants only to BEST for you!

Working with the School Counselor, we....

    • Talk about the importance of showing RESPECT to ourselves and others.
    •  Explore the "World of Work" and talk about what we want to be when we grow up.
    •  Learn how to make better decisions and how to solve our own problems.
    •  Learn more about ourselves as individuals.
    •  Improve our communication & study skills.

Come see the School Counselor when...

    • You feel like you can't talk to anyone else.
    • Your teacher asks us to work together.
    • Your parents want us to work together on a special matter.
    • You have good news to share.
    • You are feeling sad or depressed.
    • You are feeling alone or afraid.
