Superintendent's Letter Regarding TCS Remote Learning Plan
TROY CITY BOARD OF EDUCATION
Mrs. Cynthia G. Thomas, Interim Superintendent
358 Elba Highway
TROY, ALABAMA 36079
“Trojans Committed to Success”
July 9, 2020
We are excited to announce that for the coming school year, Troy City Schools has developed a Remote Learning Plan for grades K-12 that can be accessed here. Troy City Remote Learning will offer online learning opportunities for grades K-8 and Troy City Virtual Academy will offer full-time online learning opportunities for grades 9-12! You may access information about both TCRL and TCVA by clicking on the links above. We are expanding our virtual program to accommodate students who may not be ready to return to face-to-face instruction due to coronavirus concerns and to continue to serve students of all ages who have found online learning to be a good fit during the pandemic.
Unlike other online education options, both Troy City Remote Learning and Troy City Virtual Academy allows students to be taught by a teacher from their own community, facilitates a smooth transition back to traditional schooling in TCS, and allows students to still earn a diploma from their local high school. Both Troy City Remote Learning and Troy City Virtual Academy’s curricula align to the The Alabama Course of Study Standards. Students will be supported with teachers, devices, and software provided by TCS.
More information regarding TCS Remote Learning Plan will be released by each school’s principal.

School Reopening Plans
The Alabama State Department of Education has released a Roadmap for schools to reopen, which includes a list of guidelines for the coming school year. The Alabama Achieves Roadmap to Reopening Schools can be accessed by clicking here https://www.alsde.edu/. Those who read the Roadmap will note that it is a guidance document for the reopening of schools.
TCS has been awaiting the release of the ALSDE Roadmap as we have worked to develop our own Reopening Plan for Troy City which can be accessed at https://www.troyschools.net/domain/1577.
Our goal is to continue to update our school plan as it pertains to COVID-19.
Thank you for your patience as we work to prepare for the 2020-2021 school year amid rapidly changing information about public health!
